Thanks to its dedicated terminal for agricultural commodities, the Port of Brest handles the receipt of seeds, cereals, oilseed meal and other products destined for agricultural and agro-industrial businesses in Brittany. With its seven warehouses and 420 metres of loading bay space, it has a storage capacity of 130,000 tonnes.

Ship repair

Ship repair is a long-standing activity at the Port of Brest, which has three dry docks; the oldest is over a century old, whilst the newest is one of the largest in Europe. The docks have two deep-water berths, which also facilitate ship repairs whilst afloat. The commercial port and ship repair facilities are ISO 9001 and 14001 certified.

Marine renewable energy (MRE) terminal

The port has heavily invested over the last decade to accommodate and develop marine energy industries. The polder boasts a 400m-long quay dedicated to heavy goods and 40ha of surface area, set to be fully available in 2027 to accommodate wind energy industries.

The container terminal

The container terminal has direct links to the rail and motorway networks, and guarantees worldwide maritime connections via feedering and cabotage.
Operating 24/7, the terminal allows shipowners and shippers to optimise organisation and ensure rapid handling of goods and decreased layover time.

BrestPort is positioning itself as a key player in the energy transition by exploring various strategic scenarios to maximise its role in the development of floating wind power. Supported by the Brittany Region and Brest Métropole, the InFloW project is part of the region’s drive to develop a wind power industry cluster centred around professional clusters.

A veritable driver of the energy transition, BrestPort is responsible for operating the commercial port, which is owned by the Region of Brittany, and in 2024 signed a new 40-year concession contract to handle the port of Brest’s commercial, industrial and energy activities.
