On April 8th and 9th , BrestPort has hosted the 7th Project and Progress Meeting of the Interreg North Sea project “DIOL” whose objective is to elaboration innovative and green logistic services to fulfil the ambitious offshore wind deployment objectives in the North and Celtic Seas.
At this occasion, under the umbrella of DIOL and three other Interreg projects HYDEA, Green Supply Chain and North Sea H2 Valley Ports, Brest organised a workshop on two facets covered by the project: the introduction of greener fuels and advanced digital services in the maritime sectors.
The workshop gathered some 30 participants and 10 high level presentations covering these topics:
- the use of robotic systems (drone, surface water and underwater vehicles), knowing the legal and security issues hidden behind
- the decarbonation of the Offshore Wind service chain, considering all possible energy vectors, from H2 to LNG, fuel cells, HVO
- the provisioning of hydrographic/ meteo/ oceanographic data and models in ports/airports and along the way to the farms, and the wind farms themselves
- and o the need to comfort governments in their own ambitions with clarified technical-economic solutions
Special thanks to the speakers from BrestPort, Blue Water Shipping, Innovative Navigation, Actimar, Dronext, GRDF, who shared their vision and solutions with the project team.
The dual use (civil & military) vehicle powered by H2 fuel cells
After the workshop, H2X organised a demonstration of H2 fuel cells technology applied to light mobility. The dual use vehicle is designed to satisfy a dual use, for military and civil applications, in particular for port logistics. The demonstration also underlined the advantages of fuel cells compared to classical batteries, in terms of weight and loading capacities.
