Oversized cargo: BrestPort’s expertise in action
Handling out of gauge cargo requires meticulous preparation, specialized equipment, and perfect coordination among the various port operators. The video above illustrates, through a recent operation, the expertise deployed at the Port of Brest.
When a shipment exceeds the standard dimensions of a container, every step of its handling must be planned in advance. From the arrival of the container ship to the loading onto trucks, lifting and transfer operations are carried out according to a precise process to ensure the safety of people, cargo, and facilities.
This video shows the various stages of this operation: unloading from the ship, handling at the terminal using lifting equipment, and then loading onto trucks for transport. It highlights the collaborative efforts of BrestPort’s crew and crane operators, whose coordination is essential to the smooth running of the operation.
Beyond this example, this project demonstrates BrestPort’s ability to handle oversized cargo shipments and meet its customers’ specific logistics needs. Thanks to its infrastructure, facilities, and the expertise of the entire port community, the Port of Brest is able to offer solutions tailored to this type of operation.
